What Is JSON? A Beginner's Guide with Examples

What does JSON stand for?

JSON means JavaScript Object Notation. It was popularized by Douglas Crockford in the early 2000s as a lightweight alternative to XML. Although it came from JavaScript, almost every programming language can read and write JSON today: Python, PHP, Java, C#, Go, Swift and more.

The most common JSON errors

1. Single quotes – {'name': 'Ali'} is invalid; use double quotes.
