About the Text to Speech
The Text to Speech tool reads any text aloud using the speech voices already installed on your computer or phone. It is helpful for proofreading your writing by ear, listening to articles while doing other tasks, language learning and pronunciation practice, and making content accessible for people with reading difficulties or visual impairments.
Pick from all available voices and languages on your device (Windows, macOS, Android, iOS and ChromeOS include many, often including English, Urdu, Hindi, Arabic and more), and adjust the speaking speed and pitch. Long texts are split into sentences automatically for smooth playback, and you can pause, resume or stop at any time.
How to use the Text to Speech
- Type or paste the text you want to hear.
- Choose a voice and language.
- Adjust speed and pitch if you like.
- Click Speak; use Pause or Stop to control playback.
Frequently asked questions
Why are there different voices on different devices?
Voices come from your operating system and browser. Chrome and Edge also offer extra online voices. Installing language packs adds more voices.
Can I download the speech as an MP3?
Browsers do not allow saving synthesized speech directly. You can record it with our Online Screen Recorder using tab audio if needed.
Does it support Urdu?
Yes, if your device has an Urdu voice installed (for example, Microsoft voices on Windows or Google voices in Chrome).
